Following information provided by Brian a friend of Harry Fry’s Grandson & Bill’s son, Christopher Living England.

Harry Fry Born 1898 went to Canada as a young man. There he met and married Nora. (She had also moved to Canada possibly from Norfolk or Suffolk.)

Harry and Nora had 2 children born in Canada. Kathleen and William (known as Bill). The family moved back to England (3 Jubilee Cottages, Moneyrow Green) and had another child, Joan.

After the war Kathleen returned to Canada and married. She got divorced, moved to America and still lives there. Kathleen is either 83 or 84.

I knew Kath in the late 40's.  If you speak to her say Brian Evans from No. 2 White Hart Cottages sends his love.

Bill married Ginnie and had 2 children, Christopher (48) and Fiona (42). Christopher lives in Loe, Cornwall as of 2008.

Fiona lives in New Zealand and has 3 children. 6, 8 and 12 years old.

Janet Blackall (77 years old) who used to live in No. 1 Jubilee Cottages, Moneyrow Green, remembers Harry and Nora Fry moving from one of the workers cottages (now the Mayor’s house) into No.3 Jubilee Cottages just before the war. So it seems after returning from Canada they moved into the workers cottages.

Joan married George Gregory and had 2 children. Belinda and Sheila. Both are married. One of them is still in touch with her Aunty Kathleen in America also one of them lives in Australia.

There are two Alice’s in the family. One is Adelaide’s sister, the other is her sister-in-law, Alice [Norrington] Fry (of Sittingbourne) married Sydney Little 14th Oct, 1911, in Canada and had children - Jack, Clifford, Muriel & Marjorie. Alice [Norrington] Fry was a witness at Annie Fry’s marriage to Arthur Little (Sydney’s brother) in Canada, 28th Oct 1912.

AnnieFryHolyport

 Annie Fry - Adelaide’s mother.

In 1910-1912, Adelaide Fry immigrated to Ontario, Canada, & shortly after Married Arthur Little in Canada, had three children; Gladys, Dorothy (Dinky) & Daisy.

In 1911, Alice Norrington married Arthur Little’s brother Sydney Little in Canada .

Daisy Fry (Adelaide’s Sister) never married. She worked at Marland Hospital in Marland Near Rochdale. When she retired she lived with her sister, Blanch, then lived with Blanche’s daughter Phyllis in Dorset.

There was also a Daisy Little in Canada, Arthur Little’s Sister.

When Adelaide’s husband, Arthur Little died, she returned to London. Her daughter Daisy, lived with Granny Fry in Holyport. Gladys temporarily went living at a Convent where Adelaide went to visit while Adelaide was a maid (went into Service) for a Jewish family that had a pottery shop. Auntie Gladys’s remembers her mother, Adelaide, coming to visit her at the convent and wanted to take this very pretty pink pillow off her to give to Edna, her niece (Annie Tuffry’s child) who was coming to visit from Canada. When Jean, Gladys’s daughter MANY years later went to visit the Little Family in Canada, Jean said that her cousin Edna did not seem to want to meet her?.

Olive, Adelaide’s daughter remembers going down to Holyport with her mother to take a salve for Granny Fry’s ulcerated legs.

Arthur Little had a sister, Daisy Little, and when she married they had a pork shop in Southern England.

It’s a puzzle how Adelaide ended up in Canada. It’s a bit hard to believe she went to Canada by her self, such a long and unpleasant ride on a boat to a county she wouldn’t have known. Since a lot of her siblings also went to Canada, perhaps she traveled with one of them. We do know that the Arthur Little as a child & his Parents lived in Sittingbourne, 83 miles from her in Holyport. and some still live in Sittingbourne. Adelaide’s husband, Arthur Little’s, stepfather was a fishermerchant and store owner and lived on Short Street, Sittingbourne, a few blocks from the sea front where he owned a fishshop.

Adelaide’s sister, Alice married Bill Mitchell and moved to Canada.

Adelaid Fry’s ancestors were also listed at Touchen End This area was originally Twychene (1274) supposedly derived from 'Two Chain' where chains were stretched across twin roads to stop travelers and levy a toll. However, this can also mean 'Fork in the Road' which suits the location extremely well. For the meeting of the B3024 with the A330 here is a notoriously sharp and difficult junction to negotiate. Iwhurst was an alternative name for the same place.
