1881 Census  John Fry (above) would be 24 in 1881 he probably wasn't married to Ann at that time.  John doesn't show up on anywhere on the 1881 census. In 1871 John would be 14 and is the son of John Fry and Alice Letitia.  John and Alice Letitia do show up in the 1881 Census, so my guess is John (age 24) had left the nest, but wasn't married to Alice yet.  John does show up again in 1871.   Alice Fry Was born in Scotland - looks like we have a tad of Scottish in our blood.  View 1881 Image

"I notice on the 1851 census Ann/James Fry have 2 children at home.   The 1841 census may give other younger children.   I have looked on FamilyHistoryOnline and found one marriage entry for a James Fry which looks to be the correct one:
1. Groom – James Fry  Married at Hurst by Licence? – Bride Ann Bayley  on 30 Oct 1819
 
From the Berks Burial Index, there was a death for an Ann Fry aged 60, buried on 6 Aug 1854 at St Nicholas Hurst  and a James Fry , same church, buried on 15 July 1875  aged 77. This may well be your Fry family - you would need to  obtain the relevant certificates to verify these entries. "
